JOHN F. KENNEDY TYPED LETTER SIGNED: On official United States Senate letterhead, 6.25 x 8. Addressed to Margaret Coit, a professor from Farleigh Dickinson University. Kennedy thanks Margaret for sending her congratulations upon his being awarded the Pulitzer Prize for his book "Profiles in Courage." In part Kennedy writes of the experience of being awarded the Pulitzer, "...the pleasure of it all was heightened by the generous messages I received from you and other friends. Thanks for thinking of me - but don't count on a repeat performance!" Kennedy has crossed out the opening "Miss Coit" and has handwritten "Margaret." Margaret Coit, a historian, had won the Pulitzer Prize in Biography six years earlier for her work, "John C. Calhoun: American Portrait." Framed with a 7 x 9 original wire photograph of Kennedy on the Presidential campaign trail - only three years later.
