SEX PISTOLS: Sex Pistols and Public Image, Ltd. A primary culprit behind the style and attitude that is associated with the punk movement of the late 1970s, John Lydon -- known in his early career as "Johnny Rotten" (a nickname inspired by the dismal condition of his teeth at the time) -- is certainly one of the most recognizable performers of the punk era, despite his relatively short-lived involvement in the genre. Perhaps even more significant is his role in establishing the direction of post-punk, "alternative" music in the 1980s, which combined avant-garde and world music into the raw approach developed during the previous decade. He has certainly come to define one of the oddest contradictions created by the post-1950s music industry: the rebellious, anti-establishment outsider turned established, internationally-known celebrity.

One of the 20th century's most famous movie stars, sex symbols and pop icons. After acting in small roles for several years, she gradually became known for her comedic skills, sex appeal and screen presence, going on to become one of the most popular stars of the 1950s. Later in her career, she worked towards serious roles with a measure of success. Monroe was found dead in her Los Angeles home, on the morning of August 5, 1962. Her death, officially ruled to be a probable suicide by drug overdose, has become the subject of conspiracy theories, but these have done little to dent her iconic status as the archetypal sex symbol and film star in movie history.
Check, 8.25 x 3, filled out in type and signed by Monroe, payable to May Reis for $123.10, March 3, 1961. Beautifully signed on the payline in blue ballpoint, “Marilyn Monroe.” In very fine condition, with expected stamps, none affecting the clean signature area.

The Villa Capri, located in Hollywood, was a favorite hangout of both Sinatra and Dean.
